Arrived at trailhead 6:30 am, very warm, humid day. At the 3.5 mile mark, some people camping. Went as far as the 8 mile marker. Only saw two other people on trail until my return, when I counted about 25, all within 3 miles of the bridge.

Middle Fork Snoqualimie river #1003 What a great easy hike and backpacking experience to get the season started. I did the whole trail in the last 3 weekends with Three overnighters. One at the hot springs to relax. Dutch Miller trail head is open with a little snow. Hike the road and down the top part of the trail. It is a little covered with down trees but not bad. it is being cleared at this moment by the WA Trail association. Thank you all. The flowers are in bloom as you move down the trail. It was great. Let get out there. Bob

Middle Fork Snoqualmie River 6/21/08 We hiked the lower section from the Gateway bridge to the Dingford Creek bridge. The route was in excellent condition with one tricky creek ford, a tiny bit of mud and no other obstacles. All fallen timber has been cleared. What did we see and hear and smell ? A raging river, majestic old cedar giants gnarled and huge, a fine 3 star waterfall and several class 4 rapids on the river, a green tunnel of forest with ferns and mosses and little plants every- where on the forest floor, scattered groups of shade loving wildflowers (mostly Queens Cup and Canadian Dogwood) and river views of cliffs and peaks. There are 3 excellent foot bridges which make this trail possible: the gateway bridge at the start (a laminated beam arch suspension type), the Criple Creek bridge below the waterfall, and the Dingford Creek bridge at the upper trailhead. The first and the last cross the Middle Fork Snoqualmie and have survived all floods since being built in the early 1990’s. It’s not in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness yet but is a very wilderness like trail. Solitude was very good too. Statistics: 11 miles plus, 500 ft. gain, 57 miles from my north Seattle home. WTA's ""Hike of the Month"" was a good suggestion. The trail suffered lots of down timber, but volunteers including WTA have restored the trail to excellent condition. Friday's weather was warm (low 80's) but the forest provided shade and the river provided cool breezes. Views of surrounding rocky crags are impressive. We only did 3 miles, but found a nice spot on the river for lunch before returning. No bugs Friday. The road is in pretty good shape, but potholes do increase the last 3-5 miles before the trailhead. Ran about 7 miles up the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River trail this morning. Temps in the 50's, but no rain. Thanks to all the crews that have cleared this trail. There are not many obstacles along the way, and the brush is cleared back as well. Somewhat muddy, but just like any other PNW trail out there in this colder than Siberia June. The most pertinent information that I feel I can share is that the county was out there smoothing the road with dump trucks and a road grader. In 10 years, I have never seen it so easy to drive to the trailhead. There are still potholes in many places, but many sections are smooth driving. Oh, and my 13 year old dog ran the whole way with me. Didn't know he had it in him. Enjoy!
