Groundhog Day - but not marmots or shadows today! Some mud at the beginning of the trail, maybe an inch deep for about 20 yards, but nothing to stop you. A few parking spots still available in the parking lot at 10am and 12pm on a Friday. Quite a few paragliders on their way up around 11am. No one was flying yet at 12pm. No views of Rainier today, due to a low cloud deck.

Thru-hike from Cable Line to Poo Poo Point on Jan 20!
We dropped a car at the Poo Poo Point/Chirico TH in the early 8 am hour - it was already very busy, and I was lucky enough to snag one of the last open spots.
We then made the short drive over to the less full Cable Line TH and proceeded up Cable Line to West Tiger 3. Cable Line was business as usual - steep incline, muddy, rocky, heavy-breathing-inducing.
From the top of West Tiger 3 we headed over to Tiger 2 and on to the Hiker's Hut on Tiger 1. Dramatic views of Tahoma and out to the Olympics graced our way. There was a little avoidable snow/ice and slush in spots.
From the Hut, we backtracked down to the Dramatic Erratic to pick up the Tiger Mt Trail to the junction with the One View Trail, which led us to the Poo Poo Point trail. From there we descended the Chirico back to our car. Once again, just a few minor sections of packed snow/ice. We brought spikes but never put them on.
Cable Line and Chirico/Poo Poo trail were quite busy, we did enjoy the section of solitude in the middle as we connected the two. A nice change to thru-hike it instead of our usual out-and-backs.

Arrived at the parking lot around 11am on Saturday. Predictably, I had to circle a bit until a spot opened up. There were plenty of other folks on the trail, but it didn’t feel overcrowded.
The trail is in good shape - a bit muddy in spots but nothing difficult to navigate by any stretch. The patch of ice mentioned in the most recent trip report before mine has deteriorated to a short patch of slush that is very easy to walk around. Took right at 2 hours roundtrip (including a 10-15 minute break at the top) on this pleasantly dry winter day.

One short section (20 yards) of ice this morning, otherwise the trail is in great shape. No snow. Temps were in the upper 30’s and there weren’t many people on the trail for a Friday between 9:30-11:30am with plenty of parking available. Great views of Issaquah, Bellevue and Seattle, with some views of the Olympics. I could only see the base of Rainier, due to clouds.
