We started at Cyrus Gates and looped around the three trails for 6.8 miles. We just beat sunset with two kids. We left at about 2 and got back around the loop at 4:45. The ridge and rock trail are in great condition, I love both of them. The Lost lake trail is pretty muddy in places.

Hiked this past Saturday afternoon, July 7. Started at the Cyrus Gates Overlook and followed the Rock Trail, which then connected with the Lost Lake Trail and took us to a small clearing with a view of the lake. As noted in previous reviews, this lake outlet usually forms a waterfall. It was dry when we visited, though the rock was still damp and muddy.
!!!!! PLEASE NOTE !!!!! Directly behind the lake viewpoint is a steep 100ft drop-off where the waterfall typically is. DO NOT approach the top of the waterfall, as it is VERY easy to slip on the smooth, muddy rock, and there is nowhere to catch yourself before the quick drop-off. Please be careful.

Its was an overcast day but the trees still feel right even in the rain, so decided it had been a while since I hit up Rock Trail. The Cleator Rd was pretty bumpy and washboard most of the way up compared to just a couple weeks ago. It was a quite parking lot at Cyrus Gates when we started our hike, the rain held off and we headed down the trail. After a short while we were at the holes along the rock face, of course we had to play around and check them out. The tafoni holes are a great photo opportunity or just cool to peek in the large one or crawl up inside of. The trail was in great shape and down beside Lost Lake where it is usually a muddy mess, it was just a little mush. We had the rock face view of the lake to ourselves for the whole time. We chilled and had a snack then we headed down the trail just a few yards for a look at the lakes outlet where it usually forms a small water fall, but today it was hardly a trickle so if you want to see the waterfall, best go after a substantial amount of rain. The hike back was just as quiet. Only encountered a single hiker making his way down the trail and a truck at the parking lot with some bikers off loading mountain bikes for a ride into the popular trails on Chuckanut Mountain. Great 4 mile hike and conversation with a friend.

Beautiful, short hike to enjoy some wildflowers and exercise the dogs. Not too many people out this afternoon and the trail was in great condition with lots of wildflowers in bloom and some salmon berries. This trail starts with a great view then snakes through nice tree coverage, alongside some awesome sandstone cliffs. With the heat today it was great to be in the shade enjoying the greenery and flowers!
