The Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA) passed in 2020 with bipartisan support, making a landmark investment in our national parks, national forests and other beloved landscapes.
GAOA created the National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund, which has paid for vital maintenance work to protect these places and improve opportunities for the public to experience them. The Legacy Restoration Fund expires in 2025, but there is still an estimated $38 billion of investments needed on our federal public lands.
