First time here and we’ll definitely come again. The hike is fairly easy. The first mile and half is just a ramble through the woods but very lovely! So, green with some fall foliage starting. Just a few orange flowers left. And maybe one or two Herb Roberts. There are 2 larger creek crossing but we didn’t get wet. I could see these being more challenging if the water was high. Once you make the turn for Bridal Veil Falls, the trail gets rocky and has stairs. Boy, are those some stairs. Since I’ve never seen the falls before, just in pictures, I thought they were flowing pretty good. We got misted by them. We enjoyed climbing on the rocks, before heading back down. When we got back to the junction, we took Lake Serene trail about half a mile out. We walked across the bridge and found some more of the falls that we could touch. Great views over the valley. We spotted Heybrook Lookout. Parking lot was half full, and not busy on the trail. I wouldn’t want to go on a crowded day.

This was a bonus great weather fall day in the PNW. Sun shining, not to cold, not too hot, and seems most folks knew it. The drive up from NE Seattle area was simple, with steady traffic on HWY 2. Parking lot was filling up, but not full when we arrived around 10am. By the time we were done with our hike, the parking lot was full, and overflow parking was happening just past the fork in the road that goes left. The trail head is to the right. Short walk from overflow parking on road if necessary.

The trail conditions were great, and fairly heavy traffic on the trails. Constantly moving over to let others pass in the opposite direction, but all were courteous. The trail does start out easy, with little elevation gain, but it does pick up later as you get closer to the falls, and by the time you are on the stair climb portion of the hike, it does get the deep breathing going and the sweat starts to turn on, if you keep up the steady pace. There is plenty of room to take breaks along the way though if you are looking for a more leisurely pace.

Overall, great hike, highly recommend. Dogs on this trail was no problem.

By 11 AM, there was almost no parking space left at the trailhead. The rocky trail and moderately steep stairs made the hike to the waterfalls challenging. Surprisingly, the weather was beautiful for late September. It did get somewhat crowded, but the hikers were friendly. Unfortunately, someone left a banana peel at the waterfall —please remember to take your trash with you.

The parking lot was about 1/3 full at 10:30 on a Friday. The trail is in excellent condition with stairs and bridges where needed. I'd say this is more easy than moderate difficulty. Great views of the valley from the waterfall. The waterfall is at its minimum flow right now, but that doesn't make it any less pretty. I'm fact the nice thing is that we could get really close to it. I was able to sit right in front of the pool and stay totally dry. Plan on one hour up, half hour at the falls and one hour back.

This was a rainy hike. The road going through the trailhead is short and is closer to the main highway without pot holes. Surprisingly the parking lot was almost full and busy  at 8am considering it to be a wet day. As I remembered, this hike was an all incline for both the falls to lake serene. The falls have less water this time but still beautiful.

This is a rocky and rooty trail so I’d recommend using ankle high shoes just for protection but not necessary. Since it was rainy, the rocks and roots are slippery but the trees protected us from the rain so we weren’t soaking wet.

When we got to the lake, there was no view due to fog. But you can still see the crystal clear water and the fun of navigating through the logs and the log bridge. The different color of mushrooms all the way up is is another surprise to see there, if you ever like them.

Forest pass permit is needed in this trail so don’t forget to bring yours. Enjoy the place and leave no trace ya’ll.
