Trip Report

Skagit Wildlife Area — Friday, Jan. 24, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

There was finally a sun break north of Stanwood this afternoon.  I found Tundra Swans and Snow Geese.  It was great to feel the sun.  The geese were closer than the swans, so I chose to include pictures of the geese.

Monday I hiked Japanese Gulch in the rain, but saw nothing except a sign warning of owl attacks and recommending the use of a broad-brimmed hat.

Thursday I hiked Camano Ridge on Camano in the rain, and saw nothing.

The forecast for the next week is rain in the lowlands and snow in the mountains.  The avalanche danger level is very high.  This is definitely not peak hiking season.
