Went out to the coulee from Seattle for a day trip. Decided to hike Umatilla since the weather is so nice this time of year. Note: the trail is actually only 2.6 miles, not 5, round trip. Also note: the gates are now open for the park, so you don't have to add another 2-4 miles onto this hike!
After the perimeter, we decided to drive back over to the gate to Deep Lake, where we walked the mile or so to the trailhead, and did most of the trail along the lake. Another great one.
Again, this is the perfect time of year to go. Weather was in the upper 40s the entire time, with shining sun and threat of (but no signs of) rain.
