We arrived at the trailhead just before 10am. Road was ok for small SUV but would have been dicey in a smaller car. At about .75 miles in, a small bridge is out due to fallen tree, but the gulley below is passable and has some boards to help cross the mud. When you enter the first meadow around 1 mile, mosquitoes come out in force and there are small snow patches. This meadow is a gorgeous amble up a gradual slope, and soon Mt.Baker appears behind you. The only large snow patch to cross is at the top of this meadow, but it is very doable without gear, and shrinking fast.
Down a wooded slope to the next meadow, and a beautiful newer boardwalk across a meadow. We proceeded left to Watson Lakes- Up the next hillside and over a creek. Just as you begin to descend to the first Watson Lake, a huge tree is over the path- 6 feet wide. A detour path is forming, but chose your footing wisely. The rest of the trial is in good shape.
The lakes are lovely- we caught trout for dinner. Both of my kids did this trail, a good challenge for them at 3 & 4 years old, and a beautiful hike for all. We went partway around the first Watson lake and came in at exactly 6 miles for the trek.

Beautiful fish! What did you have on the line?

Rooster tails. They seemed to be biting on darker colors- brown caught this one. We had two more on the line during the day but they were big and strong, fought off. We left with this one, ate it for dinner and it was delicious.
