Trailhead at 6:20am and was car #4. We elected to skip the falls cutoff and only encountered a pair of trail runners and one hiker on their way out as we ascended.
We made the lake at 8:20 and had lunch rock all to ourselves for about 25 minutes. One other hiker visible fishing on the rocky slope under Mt. Index, but otherwise a stunning and quiet morning! About 7-8 hikers joined us on the rock around 8:45-9, and we began the trek down.
LOTS of hikers ascending, but almost all wearing masks and folks were very conscious of space and passing across the board! Parking lot was full and cars stretched both directions on the FS road. Start early :).
