Avid hikers beware - lots of newbies on the trail on the weekends. This includes people in flip flops, people without provisions and people blaring music. Do yourself a favor and go on a week day. This is a stunning hike - two lakes, tons of wild flowers, a lookout, and views of Mt. Baker, Mt. St. Helens and of course Mt. Rainier on a clear day. Eunice Lake is shallow and nice to swim or dip your feet in on the way down. I did not test the waters at Mowich Lake. Wild flowers are abundant right now. Note: you will need to pay $30 cash for a annual Mt. Rainier pass if you don’t have one. There is a pay station half way up the long (16-mile) gravel road. Road is in good shape. Have fun!
