Spectacular scenery after the rain and fog cleared! Hiked in the rain and complete fog to Twin Lakes and hiked out in bluebird conditions. The trail to the Twin Lakes above Poodle Dog pass is more of a climbers path with some minor route finding skills and comfortability with some small areas of exposure/void required as you reach the top of the pass before the steep 1/2 mile decent to Twin Lakes. Cairns and some orange blazes on trees were very helpful. Every party we met that had camped at Silver lake said the mosquitoes were unbearable. Twin Lakes had fewer mosquitoes, but we still got quite a few bites. Another party we met hiking into Twin Lakes said they had biked into Monte Cristo, stashed bikes there, and then backpacked in. Definitely something to try next time!
