My dad and I took an overnight hike to Mirror Lake, via the PCT. The road (9070) to the trailhead is pretty rough, but we saw some Prius and other sedans parked along various spots on the road on the way out. At one of the curves (just past the Cold Creek Trailhead) it gets really bad in a few spots; from here I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you have a high clearance vehicle. We reached the PCT trailhead around 9:30am and there were only a couple cars parked there. The WTA directions to the trailhead were spot-on.
The trail is in great condition and not too steep; plenty of ups and downs along the way. At the junction where the PCT meets Cold Creek Trailhead, it is mostly downhill to Mirror Lake. We grabbed a great campsite on the south side of the lake, then went off to explore a little. We went to Cottonwood Lake (mostly a downhill hike from Mirror Lake), then headed south on the PCT for a while to check out the views out that way. It was a cold and cloudy day, and though there were about 8-10 parties camped at Mirror Lake that night, we didn't see a lot of people on the trails.
The next morning when we hiked back to our car, there were lots more hikers coming in (nice sunny day). There were 8-10 cars parked at the trailhead, and lots more on the way up the 9070 road. All in all, a really nice hike that was not so difficult, and a beautiful Mirror Lake at the end.
