Great, short hike with an amazing view of Rainer. Trail is in great shape, road to the trail is a little rough in places. Saw two cars with flat tires, likely from sharp rocks. Other trip reports have mentioned logging occurring on FR-7810 during the week from about 7am-3pm.
On a Sunday at 11 the lot was full and we parked off the side of the road. The trail is fairly busy, with lots of hikers headed for Summit Lake. After the initial climb and junction, you’ll see significantly fewer people. The rest of the climb is a great mix of wild flowers and forest canopy. At the summit, you’re rewarded with quite a view!
