Anderson and Watson Lakes — Friday, Sep. 4, 2020

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Sunset over Anderson Lake

Started hiking Friday morning about 11. We had 8 (4 adults and 4 kids ranging 8 to 13). Camped at Anderson Lake at the site near the rock wall. What a beautiful place. Can I say it again? What a beautiful place! First night appeared to be only our 8 and maybe another small group across the lake. Some day hikers came in Saturday and caught a nice 17 inch or so cutthroat (what they said). Saturday night one of us caught a 14 inch or so what we thought a rainbow. We used a single hook spinner and caught ours just after sunset. Did a day hike to Watson and it was packed with people. There are two privies at Watson. There used to be a working privy at Anderson but it’s out of commission. Anderson Lake is great for kids. Only 2 miles in and you are out there. Swimming in either is great. Our group reported that Watson was perhaps warmer than Anderson. Bugs were ok and manageable. When we left on Sunday the lot was PACKED. Go eat at Birdsview Brewery on the way out. Go!  WTA was doing trail maintenance.  Thank you guys.  It looked good!
