We took a road trip from North Seattle, and left at 6am. It took us about 3 hours to get to the trail head and when we first arrived there were a few cars in the lot, but there were plenty of spots left (the rain/snow forecast likely kept people at bay).
This hike was WELL WORTH the 6 hours driving. It is pretty quick and has minimal milage and elevation (my GPS tracked 4 miles and 500 ft elevation gain), and the reward it big, especially in the fall. The larches had turned and it was beautiful to see them scattered in the mountains.
On the way to the lake we only passed two other groups, and we had the whole lake to our selves to wonder, take photos and enjoy the view, for about 15-20 minutes. Heading back we passed many more groups who had come later in the morning. Most hikers had masks, though not all. Will 100% return to this area for some more hiking.
