Trip Report

Lena Lake — Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

Pleasant and easy hike, hiked with 3 children who had no issues with trail/grade and a shocking lack of complaining. Gentle grade the entire trail with one easy to navigate blowdown. Minor rocks but mostly level grade lets you actually enjoy the views, although these are minimal compared to the plethora of other hikes in this state.

There are two more, slightly harder to navigate blowdowns if you take the short spur trail to lake level just after the second bridge where you see the oddly placed trail info sign, this is worth exploring simply due to it's minimal length.

Fall foliage is abundant but past its peak, and will be rapidly declining. Trail is mostly dry with a couple of short sections with water over them, these were easy to navigate for our group. Snow free with one of the better stocked and better-smelling trailhead restrooms I've had the "pleasure" of experiencing, thanks to the Forest Service for keeping this trailhead up.

Road is entirely paved to the trailhead, any car should be able to handle without issue.

We found a fitbit/smartwatch type device hiding under a leaf on the side of the trail, we returned this to the covered kiosk at the trailhead. Likely was left today as it was still charged, we only found due to kids collecting leaves. See the last picture.
