It was a beautiful day for a hike! Loved the drive into Wenatchee from our home in Snoqualmie. We drove right through autumn and into winter! Our goal today was snow and larch trees.
Roads were clear until about 5 miles from the trailhead, just as the previous report indicated. We were in an Outback and had no problem.
Parking lot at the trail head was full; we managed to snag the last spot. The trail was in perfect condition - no downed trees or obstacles, but it was covered in snow. Additional traction was not needed, but could have been helpful. There are some steep bits that were a bit slippy on the way up and down.
Both lakes are covered in ice and snow. Please do not walk on the lakes. I saw several families doing so today and it's just really dangerous.
Lots of cute dogs out today. Our dog wanted to be friends with all of them.
The Larch trees are fading fast, but still were beautiful under their blanket of snow.
All in all, a great family hike in the snow!
