Langus Riverfront Park — Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

This was the perfect walk on a rare, clear November day.  We parked at Langus Waterfront Park arriving around 11 am.  There were still a few available parking spots.  The restroom at the park was closed likely because of COVID.  We followed the paved trail south along the Snohomish River.  The paved trail then bends north away from the river and follows Union Slough.  We reached the trail junction with Spencer Island and went left along the road.  Note that no dogs are allowed on the southern portion of Spencer Island but okay on the northern part.  There's a port-a-potty just on the other side of the jackknife bridge.  This was duck hunting season and several hunters were decamping from their morning hunt.  Leaving the road, we then followed the paved trail north on the east side of the sewage ponds all the way up to the Smith Island wetland restoration project.  We returned on the same and then went right following the road back to Langus Park.  Total mileage: 5.8 miles, all on wide, flat, paved trail.
