Forest Pass still not needed. The slide is easily navigated, though quite muddy. Snow starts about 10 minutes from the lake. I used spikes, which were helpful but not necessary. There is always water on this trail, and it was running pretty good today. Would recommend water proof shoes. Only 1 trailhead bathroom open. Happy trails.
