Westport State Park - Westport Light Trail — Monday, Dec. 14, 2020

Southwest Washington > Long Beach Area
High tide and big waves

Yesterday was a beautiful day at the beach! I intended to actually spend time on the beach, but the tide was so high that the beach between Westhaven and Westport Light State Parks was too dangerous to walk - at one stop off I watched a big wave pick up and toss multiple big logs like they were nothing. Luckily they have a nice paved path between the two parks that gives you nice ocean and dune views! While it's definitely not a hike, it is a good leg stretcher with plenty of benches and several viewing platforms to stop at along the way. The path is wide enough that you can safely pass others at a distance and I would say that about 70% of the people I passed had masks on. After I finished up I headed into town to see the famous crab pot Christmas tree and get some shots of the boats in the marina. All in all a good little birthday trip!
