Today’s hike was very reminiscent of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe: rain, mist, snow, pushing under heavily snow-laden evergreens, and finally Mt Si's Haystack looming out of the mist so a little magic too :-)
Arrived at Mt. Tenerife parking lot at 7am just as opened. FYI, 'winter hours 4pm gate closed'--a sign I didn't see in the predawn darkness. Toilet is open but BYO tp. Also, one downed tree over the trail, but only 1/2 foot diameter, easily gotten over. Despite the snow, sticks and gaiters were all that I needed to walk, although needed water proof shoes, pants and jacket, very wet.
Snow started about 2-4 miles on the Mt. T trail. Slowed me down and tired me out. I had intended to hike to Mt. Tenerife, but instead took the connector over to Mt Si's Haystack. My Gai app reports a round trip 11 miles/3189 feet elevation change. Back at the parking lot by 3pm.
