The road will probably need at least two more warm weeks before it's fully passable for most vehicles. Shaded spots on the road to the trailhead had ruts in compact frozen snow and ice with crests high enough in the middle to lightly scrape the bottom of my vehicle with 8.1 inch clearance.
1.3 miles short of the trailhead the road turns into more mushy snow (pictured) that looked like it was deepening farther up. Could be difficult to get through depending on your rig, and this is where I turned around.
