This was our second time hiking this trail, but out first starting out in the dark. We started at 4am for our sunrise LNT elopement; not many cars in the lot. It was the morning after a full moon and the sky was bright! Excellent views. Trail is well maintained and free of obstacles, so makes for a fine hike in the dark using headlamps. There were a handful of other people at the top watching the beautiful October sunrise. The lookout was not staffed and is not open to the public. The last half mile or so is shale rock and a bit narrow, but still easily passable with oncoming hikers. We saw marmots both times we've done this hike, and a brown bear this day. A must do hike!
