Had never been to the Lake Serene trail, but of course had heard of it, and it didn't disappoint. We arrived at 8:30am, and there was plenty of parking left but still a surprising amount of cars in the lot, when we got back around 2:00pm the lot was completely full. Had lunch up at the lake and it was crowded but we didn't have a hard time finding a nice spot to eat.
Notes:
1. Go to Bridal Veil Falls, it's easy to skip but it's so breathtaking it could be its own hike. The sign to it is really obvious, if you're second-guessing whether it's the right trail, it's not. Get ready for some heavy (and refreshing) mist though.
2. All the earlier trip reports are right, the first 2/3 of the hike are easy, excluding the steep Bridal Veil Falls route, but the last 1.5 ish miles are tough. You'll have to climb up stairs and lots of rocky trail, but once the trail opens up and you can see the valley you're nearly there.
3. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom at the trailhead and the other one was closed for maintenance as of today, just an FYI.
Overall this was one of the more difficult hikes I've done just because of the last bit, but it was also one of the most beautiful and totally worth my sore legs. Happy hiking!!
