First -- a huge THANK YOU to the WTA crew that was out digging drainages along the trail this weekend! They were working hard but all smiles. Second -- apologies to all lovely human beings our aspiring adventure pup barked at in terror. We tried to forewarn as often as we could. She's learning her manners (and learning that not all people are scary).

This trail is a lovely, lovely ramble. We only went about three miles in, and it was relatively easy up-and-down, through mossy, fern-y woods, eventually bottoming out right alongside the (currently) roaring Duckabush River, with private little campsites sporadically nestled among the trees. The parking lot was overly-full when we arrived around 11:30am; I'd say it's supposed to fit about 15 cars comfortably, and there were definitely more than that when we arrived. We'd rented a campervan for the weekend, and it was hard to get ourselves tucked in; if someone hadn't been leaving as we were arriving, I'm honestly not sure how we'd have turned around in such a tight space.

Cannot wait to come back to backpack further along the trail. It was stunning! (For those interested in car camping, nearby Collins Creek campground looked very sweet, with only 10 primitive campsites tucked among the woods, some backing right onto the river. First come, first served. We stayed at nearby Hamma Hamma camground near Lena Lake; equally recommended)!

McGrubber on Duckabush River

There is more parking at the horse lot, just before you take the spur up to the trailhead, with a trail connecting the the two. WTA spends literally hundreds of hours a year keeping that trail open, thanks for hiking it.

Ponder and Muse on Duckabush River

Thanks, @McGrubber! I think next time we'll just plan on arriving earlier so as to have more time to explore. :)
