I wanted to cross this hike off my list. We had my 16 year old step daughter with us, who isn’t too fond of hiking, so we thought this would be an easy hike for her. I’ve avoided it because how popular it is, but we got there at the perfect time. As previous trip reports stated, the road is a little rough, definitely take it slow even if you have a high clearance vehicle. We arrived to the trailhead a little after 7, grabbed one of the last official parking spots. On the way up it felt like we had the trail to ourselves, didn’t pass anyone coming down until we arrived to the lake. Made a loop around, had a snack and observed the beauty of the lake for a bit. On our way we passed probably 200 people, lots of large groups and families heading up. Several cars parked up and down the road for about a half mile passed the trailhead. Beautiful Saturday.
