Mailbox Peak - Old Trail, Mailbox Peak — Sunday, Jun. 20, 2021

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
The (newly) eponymous mailbox

The Trailhead

Got the lower TH at ~7:15am on Sunday morning. Only one spot left. Upper lot still had many spots available.

The Trail

Hiked up the Old trail and down the New. The Old trail, as you can expect, is terribly eroded in many places and sometimes completely disappears and then reappears. Do try to bring a map (GPS even better) and stick the established trail as much as possible to avoid further erosion of the soft soil in the area. Going up the Old trail requires high-stepping in many places so bring poles and/or be prepared to use your hands every once in a while.

The New trail on the other hand is in great condition (although it does make for a bit of a long-winded descent at times).

Bugs were a non-concern on either trail.

The Summit

It was an almost cloud-less day so visibility was great. The new mailbox (replaced a month or two ago) is beginning to get covered.

Bugs were definitely more of an annoyance on the summit though still not that bad (if you had the foresight to put on some bug spray). A couple mountain goats were hanging by close to the summit as well.
