Trip Report

Mount Ellinor — Monday, Jul. 12, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

It was my moms 70th birthday and she decided to hike Ellinor! We started at the upper lot around 8:30am, not many cars. We were a large group of 8 so we took many breaks. Got back to our cars around 12:30.
There is still a small section of snow, maybe 100yds or so. We all had hiking or tennis shoes on and did just fine. We were able to glissade down, highly recommend over trying to walk down. Starting at the 1st summit the bugs became TERRIBLE; Mosquitoes, horse flies, bee’s. My mom got stung and the rest of us just bit, even though we had plenty of bug spray on. It cut our stay at the top short. We saw 3 goats at the top, they were very far off in the distance minding their own business.
Amazing views! Always love this hike!

WTA volunteers were on the trail building new steps. (thank you volunteers!!)
