Arrived before 9am Sunday morning and was able to grab one of the last parking spots. The road was probably one of the worst I've seen with the potholes, it looked like a dinosaur stomped through it! We drove slowly though and it was okay, but definitely could use some repair. Restroom at the trailhead with toilet paper, not the cleanest, but wearing a mask helps haha.
On the way up, we only passed a handful of people. Most people were very respectful, kept their dogs on a leash when passing, let uphill hikers pass, etc. We luckily didn't see too much trash, but some dog owners are not picking up their poop! We had extra baggies so cleaned it up on the way down, but please come prepared if you plan to bring you pets on the trail.
Surprisingly was not really bothered by bugs, and most of the trail consisted of an even mix of shade and sun, but tons of rocks and roots. I'm glad I wore my hiking boots for ankle support, and there were some large steps to navigate. The lake was beautiful, and I can see it being really nice when there's more snow on the mountains, but then the rocks would be wet and slippery, so pick your poison for time of year you want to visit!
Completed 5.2 miles since we looped around the lake and explored a bit, overall moving time around 2.5 hours, completed time around 3 hours.
