Our July 18-22 work party was the final project to clear the 14 miles of trails including portions of Jack Creek trail #1558, Snowall Cradle trail #1560, and all of the Meadow Creek trail #1559. Members of our Backcountry Horsemen sponsored group had been working on these trails on three previous multi-day work projects this year, working their way up Jack Creek trail as the snow melted, cutting logs and repairing trail along the way. Once the trail was clear enough for pack stock to reach the hunter's camp at Meadow Creek, plans were made for the final project to finish clearing Meadow Creek trail all the way to the junction with French Creek trail #1595 as well as Snowall Cradle trail up to Cradle lake. Our work team consisted of 8 members, most with Forest Service sawyer certification and a few with other trail organization affiliation. All were experienced trail workers which enabled us to get the large amount of work done on this final trip of the season.
With this effort, all of Meadow Creek trail is able to be hiked without obstruction, Jack Creek trail is clear from the trailhead to the Meadow Creek junction, and Snowall Cradle trail is clear to Cradle lake. The camp at Meadow Creek is large and has space for over 6 tents. We did not have time or resources this year to clear the French Creek trail so there will be log obstruction for travel there.
This will be the fifth year that our work group has informally adopted the Jack/Meadow/French creek loop out of the Black Pine Horse Camp to be our annual project. The Wenatchee River Ranger District has been very supportive over the years. Many thanks also the Backcountry Horsemen of Washington, and our outfitters, Icicle Outfitters (Leavenworth) and TM Mules (East Wenatchee).

Thank you so much for your hard work! It's so great to see lesser-used trails like this are kept open.
