High Lakes Loop — Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021

There is nothing like the fragrance of a field of wild flowers. The WTA description above describes the floral variety, let me tell you they are all there. What a lovely display. This short, easy hike was perfect on a hot day, a nice mix of full-sun meadow and light shade. The parking lot was a little over half full at 9:30am on Wednesday, more than full at 12:30. No privy or water available. Lots of visitors at the trailhead, but we passed fewer than 10 after the first/last 1/4 mile. Pro tip: If you need TP, pack a ziplock and bring it home. No one wants to see it. Deep Woods Off kept the bugs from biting, but there are a LOT of bugs!
