The parking lot was almost full when we got there at 2 pm on a Sunday. However, everyone goes to their own little spot on the river so most of the time we were alone on the trail. This is a great trail for kids and other people who like to explore - winding through high vegetation, trying out every side trail to the river for the different views, clambering over fallen trees or rocks to get to the river. At the end of the trail you emerge onto a huge, partially vegetated gravel bar for further exploration. We saw an osprey soaring, and countless swallows skimming over the water or swooping high in the air for insects.
Fish were jumping everywhere and every access spot had one or 2 people fishing. Unfortunately not everyone is careful to pack out what they pack in, and we had to pick up 2 abandoned fishing lines that were littering a beach and could have injured or killed wildlife (one almost tripped me up, they are almost invisible). There is a disposal unit at the entrance to the trail but it was full.
A lot of the vegetation is introduced species, especially Himalayan blackberries and Japanese knotweed. However, some snowberry, salmonberry, and other native plants were in the undergrowth too. The blackberries are ripe for the picking!
