Trip Report

Ebey's Landing — Monday, Aug. 30, 2021

Puget Sound and Islands > Whidbey Island
Perego's Lagoon at 11:06am

We've made Ebey's Landing a birthday-hike-celebration-destination twice now! Perfect for a day trip getaway. Googlemaps took us to the beach trailhead initially, but we prefer the one near the cemetery and arrived around 10am. We brought poles and layers of clothes; gotta stay protected from the elevation and elements! The clouds cleared up enough for some views and we passed only a couple other hikers on the trails. The WTA trail summary of this hike suggests taking a one-way loop, but I was not sure which way, so we went counterclockwise. Both the trails on the bluffs and the beach were sandy and put a little strain on our muscles, but all for a good workout. We had lunch at a picnic table near the beach trailhead and saw a flock of quails (maybe?) dart into the bushes. The noise from the naval base jets soaring overhead drowned out the poetic sound of the waves on the rocky shore, but that was the only low point on the hike. We had ice cream in nearby Coupeville to top off a lovely day.

Perego's Lagoon 3 minutes later - unpredictable weather!
Trail going up from the beach, more bluff trail in the background
