Road to lower sno-park is snow-covered most of the way. Experience driving in winter conditions is important to assess whether your vehicle can make it/needs chains/should turn around. Go slow - it takes longer to stop & pull over when a car comes from the opposite direction down the road.
We arrived to the lot at 8:20 am and there were plenty of spots. The entire trail to the hut is well-groomed - we didn’t even use our snowshoes because it was hard snowpack. Keep to the side of the trail in snowshoes or boots so that it stays well-groomed for skiers. It’s a full 8 miles round trip from the lower lot. There aren’t any big views until the end but it’s so worth it!
By the time we got back to the lot at 1 pm it was overfull with 3 cars waiting for spots. There isn’t a lot of space to turn around or maneuver so I recommend getting there early.

Thanks for this report! Do you mind sharing the type of car you drove up with and if you used chains?
