Home Go Hiking Trip Reports Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

Trip Report

Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge — Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area

This is our close to home staple and we have been here many times. It is not too far of a drive from Puyallup, and it is always fun to see the birds here. It makes for a great option when mountain conditions aren’t great like this weekend.

It was super foggy yesterday, though still plenty of birds to see and a good time walking around. It was busy yesterday! I noticed lots of other photographers, walkers, and families on the trails. When we were leaving, the parking area was full, with about 5 cars parked outside of the gate close to the highway off ramp.

I enjoy your photos. The heron is really unique.
