Trip Report

Goat Peak Lookout — Wednesday, Jun. 1, 2022

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth
Taken around 6,500' feet

As of 6/1 you can't quite make it to the TH parking lot, but can get within 400-500 feet.

Combined with the higher elevation and north facing slope, this route is usually covered in snow for longer periods than other sides of the peak.

Snowshoes, gators, waterproof boots, trekking poles with baskets a must. On the descent a lot of potholing (often to the hip bone), tree wells, snow bridges over rocks and stumps to be aware of and contend with.

There is no real trail to follow, it's just snow and straight up. Some avalanche Lillies in bloom in the rocky meadow area near the trailhead where it's snow free.
