East Bank Baker Lake — Wednesday, Jun. 19, 2024

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

It was gorgeous today!  We thought the trail might be busy but were treated to very few people.

About 10 cars in the lot when we started on trail about noon. We saw about 5 people on trail all day.

We walked in to the camp and there were two parties there with boats.

Then we went back to the trail, crossed the bridge and continued for another 20 min or so hoping to find a nice beach spot to relax but failed.  We should have done the Noisy trail instead!  Next time.

We had our lunch at the bridge, and  my partner jumped in for a cold dip. After about an hour rest, we started the long jaunt back.

Berries were plentiful, blue, salmon and huckles!

We saw two fat frogs and heard lots of birds. No other wildlife.

No trail obstacles.  The bridge is still wonky but passable.

My dogs were howling by the time we reached our car 6+ hrs later.  Only two other vehicles in the lot.

We love to ogle the massive old growth on this trail which makes us feel bug-sized.
Lovely way to spend the Juneteenth holiday!
