Took a trip up here after the Walt Bailey road was unexpectedly closed.
Road: Nothing that hasn't been already stated. My Kia Soul made it and only scraped the bottom once!
Trail: It's a pretty rough up-going, with a lot of downed trees in the trail. With Lake 22 way over-capacity next door, I could see the desire to wanting to keep the terrain rugged to lessen impact would be one reason for it has stayed in such shape. That stated, you could walk around or climb over all that were in the way. The trail was clearly 're-routed' for a couple of them... Attached is a photo of some trenched section of trail. If WTA is looking for a day WP weekend, spot-improving this trail would be helpful.
Intermittent snow near the top, you could walk over the sections just fine but my foot fell deeper than expected once or twice. There were a couple spots with all the snow melted and giant puddles with, unless you have waterproof boots, it's likely better to try hugging the outside.
A group of two camped at the top without luck fishing, on my way down I ran into 5-7 groups heading up. I believe it was 2-2.5 hours RT, we stopped for a snack at the lake.

Thank you for the report! Hopefully you know that the lovely photo you posted is not Pinnacle Lake? I call it the “warm-up lake/pond.” Pinnacle Lk is just a bit farther.
