My bestie and I did this as our last hike of the day on our treck from Tacoma to Yakima. Tieton river is stunning. It's so dang beautiful. We crossed the bridge and saw rock climbers climbing up the steep cliffs. We had our eyes and ears open for snakes, but really I have no snake know-how at all and the overgrown trail was starting to freak me out a little. The landscape was breathtaking, stark in a way that was heavy and breathtaking. The heat was real. It was only 85, but I was sweating up a storm. With the sun and the overgrown trail, it didn't take long before we turned back. When I couldn't see the trail through the brush, it seemed unsafe to keep going. Anyone want to share how you handle hiking on this side of WA with the threat of rattlesnakes? I loved the river and rock cliffs and the people. Everyone was so friendly.

Rattlesnakes are cold blooded, so in cool weather they are slow, in warm weather they are fast. I like to hike these trails in early sprint in the morning for this reason. Also, stay on the trail as you can see the rattlesnakes and avoid them.
