Grand Park via Lake Eleanor — Thursday, Jul. 4, 2024

Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Grand Park via Lake Eleanor by zieiuk

On this sunny and hot day, we had a great time hiking to Grand Park from Lake Eleanor trailhead. The Mountain and meadows were just so beautiful. We had worries that if we arrive late, the sun would move to the back of the mountain, but it wasn’t like that at this time of the year, even when we left around 12PM.

We followed the directions on WTA that started on FS 7300 off Hwy 410. The lower half of road had many potholes, but nothing too scary, upper half was in good condition. We had to park a bit further past the trailhead when arrived around 8:30.

Bugs: lots of flies and mosquitoes at several spots, including the part at the big meadow with the most wildflowers. While I got bitten really hard, my friends were fine.

Trail conditions: only a small patch of snow left and it was melting, not an issue at all, but there were a few muddy spots, drying up quick too.

Did not see any bears though. Only spotted a deer far away in the trees on top.
