The road up to the trailhead has been recently graveled and has way less potholes. The whole trail has been snow free for a while now. We lost our way a few times there and on the way back, but it helped that we knew the general way we were supposed to go. After the decent from the second ridge, I'm not convinced there's one official trail. There's a whole bunch of intersecting people trail and animal trails that might take you to a dead end or where you're supposed to go. A GPS is very helpful. We camped at a nice camp on the end of of the peninsula of the smaller horseshoe shaped lake. That one doesn't seem to have any fish and the mosquitoes where the worst there, but it was also the most pretty and has the best views. The first lake looks like it had the most fish. At dusk the mosquitoes started swarming and it made an eerie sound. They were troublesome all night long. We packed up quickly and fled back to the first lake for breakfast.
