Silver Lake - Monte Cristo — Friday, Jul. 12, 2024

Overnight backpacking trip. Set up camp at Monte Cristo then headed up to Silver lake. Trail is steep and rocky in places and had a couple large blow downs we climbed over or under, trail is snow free. Saw several big frogs in the lake. A few of us braved the cold water for a refreshing dip. Beautiful views and wildflowers. Did the 1/4 mile side trail to the Boston American mine before heading home. Beware of stinging nettle. We were glad we made the hike on Friday, headed down Sat the road was full of cars.
