Get to Ozette Lake Campground early mid week, spots available. Mosquitos tolerable, burn ban is on now. Calm paddle in the morning, expect strong headwinds by noon.  Trail to Sand Point sorely in need of maintenance. Watch for eroding planks, rotten broken gaps, and mudholes. Trail to Alava a bit better. Both easily passable with care. Varied thrush song accompanied us all the way.

Gorgeous pass through prairie on both trails.

Once on the beach, beautiful views and ocean serenity. Tide pools are abundant at low tide. One day chilly fog and mist; usual for PNW coast. Many campsites on beach; permit required. Please pack out all your trash to protect this wild gem of coastline.

Young bear spotted a way down beach pawing the low tide flats. Wary of humans.
