Our first time on this trail and it won’t be the last-Cowap Peak. Struggling to get the correct title to post…
The road has some juicy potholes that’ll swallow your tires if you let ‘em! Stay vigilant when the sun is coming at you!
There were a couple spots left in the parking lot when we arrived about noon. Outhouse was clean and even had some tp.
Saw a few hikers and two motorbikes heading out to the parking lot before we turned onto the Canyon Ridge Trail. Trail was a bit roughed up from motorbikes until the junction with Boundary, then all was in great condition.
We saw nobody until we reached the peak (I chickened out right before) where a group of four came up behind us (two of them also chickened out). They left us after a short visit and we had the rest of our lunch break and trip back down to the Damfino trail to ourselves! So great🤗.
The trail was beautiful. Beautiful forest, meadows and views. Big trees to gawk at and flowers everywhere. Even tho we didn’t get the big Mountain View payout, it was lovely and totally worth it! Saw several cute fat marmots in the big meadow.
It’s a nice short hike, but we spent probably an hour in the meadows on the way down looking at all the flowers and marmots and the crickets which were out of control! So fun to walk through them as they hopped and scattered in every direction.
BTW, there was a faint smell of smoke in the air but not bothersome.
Great day!
