Anderson and Watson Lakes — Friday, Aug. 16, 2024

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Anderson and Watson Lakes by Mickey D

The road is rough but I managed it in my stock ride hight minivan by going super slow on the rough spots. It took me 1hr 15min to drive from the end of the pavement after the dam to the trailhead (~10mi). I was wishing for more ground clearance but I got there and back without bottoming out. The worst spots are in the last 2 miles before the TH.

The trail was in good condition with the one exception being the hornets nest in a log in the middle of the trail. I avoided them on the way out but got stung by one on the way back. Otherwise there were a few bugs but nothing serious. I slept under a tarp with no bug nets and I wasn’t bothered at all. I brought a head net but didn’t use it.

I got to the campsites around 7:30pm Friday and was able to find a spot but there were only 2 sites left. The lakes are beautiful and I will definitely be back.
