As everyone else has stated, this trail is steeper than steep. But it is also hazardous, requiring balance, attention, and in two places class 3/4 skills. Still, Lake Constance is harder.
At no point did I wonder where the trail was: it was always straight up. Sometimes on roots, rocks, or solid stone. The vegetation pulls at your pack and tries to prevent passage.
After the crux (you’ll know) the going is relatively easy and your reward are acres of ripe huckleberries and dwarf blueberries.
On this cloudy Saturday I saw nobody else on the trail or at the lake. Moody clouds swirled around the peaks and came with cold winds overnight.
The morning broke clear, crisp, and cloudless, but all was covered in dew. Lake of the Angels? Interesting name. Not quite heavenly, but close enough.
