Heather - Maple Pass Loop — Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024

Breathtaking views, but beware of changing conditions. We began hiking around 10AM October 5th, so just late enough to let the snow from the night before become compacted ice on one side of the mountain and slippery mud in the other. We're not well experienced hikers, but even people who hike regularly were having difficulties getting up to the top and not falling from the slick mud on the way back down. Parking is packed, but there is plenty of room on the road shoulders. It's just longer to walk if you don't get there early early.
