Trip Report

Cascade Pass and Sahale Arm — Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20

The cascade river road is in great shape with just a couple of rough patches. Trail also in great shape all the way, but as always the final 1/4 mile from the arm to Sahale camp is a bit steep and rough in scree and dirt. I saw 5 bears, ranging from a mile away to as close as 40 yards from the trail. They were all intent on eating berries, which are way past their peak but still plentiful. Lots of pikas. Marmots are tucked in for the winter. Also saw two goats up by Sahale glacier camp. Their winter coats are coming in :)
