Larches are done for the year! Needles are all on the ground, creating a golden carpet. Note this hike is a bit harder than it looks. Most of the 2200 feet of elevation are gained in the middle 2.5 miles- it was STEEP! The trail is mostly in forest with some viewpoints. The lakes at the top were gorgeous, but so cold, wet and windy. Definitely go to the upper lake.
