2/17/25 - Such a beautiful snow day! The road to the TH is closed because of snow, so you have to park on the main road. The walk to the TH is relatively flat (20mins or less). I used snowshoes but didn’t need them since people had paved way so the snow was packed down already. I noticed a lot of people walking with regular shoes, some wore snowshoes, and some had skis. I did see families with snow sleds as well. The views were beautiful! The snow covered the lake so definitely watch where you are stepping. The trail itself is an easy hike. I did the hike clockwise for better views. Watch out for the snow falling from trees. Pit toilet was available, it seems that snow was removed from the entrance. Highly recommend wearing layers, pack out your trash, and enjoy the views.
Make sure to purchase a Sno-Park permit for the day ($25) or for the season ($50). There is no payment machine so you can either purchase the permit at a vendor location or scan the QR code on-site which will take you to the Washington State Parks website where you can purchase the permit. When I was leaving the area, law enforcement was ticketing cars that were near the freeway entrance.
